Promoting farmers interests in the CAMS process
AWMC is working closely with abstractors in the CAMS process. This work includes promoting farmers interests in the CAMS process and advising groups of farmers on how to maintain their licence's. The three main areas being assessment of irrigation need, protecting the environment and water efficiency. Diffuse pollution issues are beginning to affect the availability of water for abstraction.
Catchment sensitive farming
AWMC is working with farmers' groups on catchment sensitive farming. This work helps farmers to comply with all the 19 EU Directives currently in place for cross-compliance.
